Your Host, Mark Varey

About Us...

Welcome to Timblerlane! We’d like to introduce ourselves. We are the Varey's. Our family has a long history on Manitoulin Island, our ancestors have been here since the 1800's. A true "Haweater" family!

Haweater is the name given to anyone born on Manitoulin. This is derived from the Great Depression when residents turned to a local berry to help supplement a slim diet. This berry is much like a cranberry and can be found all over the island in jams and jellies to take home!

Our family took over the lodge in May of 2007, and we absolutely love it here! We are so proud of this unique place and would love to share it with you and your family. Timberlane is a true piece of rustic and wild Canadiana that is difficult to find in our busy world.

Our mission is to make sure that every single guest we have has a great individual experience and that each of you will go home with some wonderful memories.

Friendly, local staff will go out of their way to make your stay a perfect one. They are all from the island, some have been working here for over 20 years, and are knowledgeable of the area. Please feel free to ask them about our local histories and legends. For you avid fisherman - Mark Varey (pictured above) has fished these waters since he was a young child, and will be happy to share his knowledge with you.

Great Adventures

The children love it here. There is so much to expore, and lots of clean air and water to grow up in!

Daniel is an avid hockey player and Jordan loves anything that has a motor and moves fast. Meaghan is our tomboy and loves to be in the water and play sports. Morgan is our family Diva. Hard to find her without a dress on, along with all the accessories.

We also have two cats - Smoothy and Autumn - two sisters for two sisters, and they both adore people. Our newest addition to our family is Molly, a dog who loves to play fetch!

Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions or for bookings. Sometimes we aren't in the office when you call, so just leave us a quick message and we will get back to you - usually within the hour!. We hope that your stay here is exactly what you imagined and more.

Sincerely,

Laura Wall-Varey and Mark Varey,
Proprietors
